The company MAS Elektronik AG, well- known distributor and producer of home enteretainment equipment, announces signing the distributor agreement with Trekstor which is known as one of the leading producers of high quality MP3 players. Thanks to this agreement MAS Elektronik AG will supply full product range of this eminent brand on the market in Russia and CIS countries.
A plant on counterfeit LCD-TV production has been closed down in the Kaliningrad region. The parts used in the production were brought from abroad and were estimated at 15mln rubles ($580 thousand). This is not the first case registered in the Kaliningrad region. Recently another company was detected selling counterfeit TVs under brands of famous producers.
Speculation has emerged that Wal-Mart is interested in entering the Russian market. The retailer is reported to be seeking to enter the Russian market through a joint-venture with a local partner, although no details have been released into where Wal-Mart will locate in Russia, or what company it will partner.

Consumer electronics in Russia is expected to continue to grow throughout the forecast period, to reach US$4.7 billion in 2008, compared with US$2.9 billion in 2003. The Russian high-performance computing market doubled in 2006. Market players say growth rates will be similar in the coming few years. The only distinguished Russian player on the market is the T-Platforms company. It intends to take the leading position on it, 40%-45%. A new hotline has been launched in Russia to shift to legal software use. The project’s aim is to consult Russian companies on questions concerning legal software use. Consulting the companies will be specialists from the country’s 15 towns.
