Counterfeit LCD-TV production closed down in Russia
A plant on counterfeit LCD-TV production has been closed down in the Kaliningrad region. The parts used in the production were brought from abroad and were estimated at 15mln rubles ($580 thousand). This is not the first case registered in the Kaliningrad region. Recently another company was detected selling counterfeit TVs under brands of famous producers.
Police of the Kaliningrad region has closed down a plant on the production of counterfeit TVs in Krasnozemsk. Police told CNews parts for the production were brought from abroad and the customs legislation was violated. “The documents were faked. The production has been lasting for quite a while. TVs were sold not only in Russia but were also exported to other countries”, the press-service said.
The police could not say TVs of which brands exactly were faked and couldn’t estimate the damage caused by the producers. Papers were confiscated which said parts were acquired for 15mln rubles ($580 thousand). A criminal case has been initiated on article “Contraband property”.
This is not the first case of counterfeit TV production in Kaliningrad. The Radioimport-R company was involved in the production of couterfeit TVs. It is Radioimport’s daughter company. It was engaged in the production of counterfeit products under such brands as Panasonic, Sharp, Daewoo. The devices were delivered to Eldorado shops and sold all across Russia. Parts were imported from South-East Asia. A criminal case was initiated on article “Unauthorized use of registered trademark”.
